Three artists—the duo Twenty One Pilots and solo artist Charli XCX—who are no strangers to the Roblox platform are among the 2022 Video Music Award (VMA) categories and nominees, which were announced through Twitter. Twenty One Pilots and Charli XCX are both well-known in the Roblox community for their totally virtual, in-game concert experiences that divided players and got them nominated for the category “Best Metaverse Performance.” Roblox’s attempt to link music and the Metaverse is liked by some players and hated by others.

Ariana Grande, BTS, BLACKPINK, and Justin Bieber are included in this category alongside Twenty One Pilots and Charli XCX. Only Charli XCX and Twenty One Pilots held their concerts on Roblox.
The voting period for all VMA categories, including “Best Metaverse Performance,” began on July 26 and ran until August 19 of that year. Voters can cast their ballots up to 20 times per day, every day, until the polls close. The VMA live presentation, where all of the main category winners are announced, will thereafter occur on August 28, 2022, on
